Wanderlog helps make leisure travel easier. We believe that travel makes the world better, and are building tools that lower the bar to it. Our core product, built starting 2019, is a travel planning app (we're the top-ranked trip planner on iOS and Android), but we're also helping travelers book hotels (without hidden fees), providing them with information (through various pages on e.g., best attractions, restaurants, etc.), and more.
As an engineer, you'll be responsible for owning portions of the product, building new features on our website and mobile app using Javascript (Typescript), React, React Native, and Node.js/Express. You'll design and decide what to build based on user needs, create data pipelines, write tests, debug issues, and review code.
We're an engineering and product-heavy team of 8 (7 engineers, 1 designer) from top institutions like MIT, UC Berkeley, and University of Toronto. Our founders are twin brothers with experience from Stripe, McKinsey, and Google. We serve millions of travelers monthly and are a self-sustaining startup.
We believe in work-life balance and the power of travel to broaden horizons. We have twice annual travel offsites for team collaboration and exploration. Our values include putting travelers first, owning products end-to-end, treating teammates with respect, and moving fast through smart development.
The ideal candidate has 2+ years of full-stack experience, is comfortable with React/React Native, has built end-to-end products, can adapt to new technologies, is entrepreneurial, and loves travel. Our stack includes Redis, Elasticsearch, and Python.
Projects may include building hotel booking interfaces, AI-powered content tools, mobile app optimization, Chrome extensions, and social features. The hiring process involves an async coding challenge, technical interviews, and a virtual onsite.
