Description For Full-Stack Software Engineer (New & recent graduates: United States)

Wanderlog is building tools to make leisure travel easier, with their core product being a top-ranked trip planner on iOS and Android. Founded by twin brothers Peter Xu and Harry Yu, who bring experience from Stripe, McKinsey, and Google, the company serves millions of travelers monthly.

The role offers an opportunity to join a small, high-growth team of 8 (including 7 engineers) working on various aspects of the travel planning platform. As a full-stack engineer, you'll own portions of the product, building new features using Javascript (Typescript), React, React Native, and Node.js/Express.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing features for both web and mobile platforms
  • Designing and deciding what to build based on traveler needs
  • Building data pipelines and processing information from various sources
  • Writing tests and maintaining engineering infrastructure
  • Debugging and scaling the platform
  • Conducting code reviews

The company values work-life balance and promotes a culture of travel, with twice-annual travel offsites. They're a self-sustaining, default-alive startup that believes in putting travelers first, owning the product end-to-end, and moving fast while being smart about development decisions.

The ideal candidate should be comfortable with React/React Native, have experience building end-to-end products, and be adaptable with various technologies including Redis, Elasticsearch, and Python. A passion for travel and an entrepreneurial spirit are essential qualities for success in this role.

The hiring process includes an asynchronous programming challenge, coding interviews, and a full-day virtual onsite. The position offers an opportunity to work directly with the founders and make a significant impact on how people experience travel.
