Description For Full-Stack Software Engineer (New & recent graduates: United States)

Wanderlog helps make leisure travel easier by building tools that lower the bar to travel experiences. As a Full-Stack Software Engineer, you'll join a team of 8 (including 7 engineers) building the top-ranked trip planner on iOS and Android.

You'll be responsible for owning portions of the product, building new features using Javascript (Typescript) with React for web and React Native for mobile, along with Node.js/Express on the server. The role involves designing and deciding what to build based on traveler needs, creating data pipelines, writing tests, and maintaining infrastructure.

The company culture emphasizes work-life balance, with regular team lunches and twice-annual travel offsites. The engineering-driven environment involves close collaboration with users, prioritizing tasks in Sheets, designing in Figma, and continuous shipping.

Key projects you might work on include:

  • Building user-friendly hotel booking interfaces
  • Developing AI-powered tools to summarize travel content
  • Optimizing the React Native mobile app performance
  • Creating a Chrome extension for travel planning
  • Improving collaboration and social features

The ideal candidate:

  • Has Javascript/React/React Native experience
  • Takes an end-to-end product mindset
  • Can work with various technologies (Redis, Elasticsearch, Python)
  • Is entrepreneurial and comfortable wearing multiple hats
  • Passionate about travel's positive impact

Founded by twin brothers with experience from Stripe, McKinsey, and Google, Wanderlog has grown to serve millions of travelers monthly. The company is self-sustaining and values putting travelers first, owning products end-to-end, treating teammates with respect, and moving fast through smart execution.

The hiring process includes an async programming challenge, coding interviews, and a full-day virtual onsite. The role offers significant ownership and impact potential in making travel experiences more accessible to people worldwide.
