Software Engineer, Machine Learning

Whatnot is a livestream shopping platform and marketplace backed by Andreessen Horowitz, Y Combinator, and CapitalG. As a Software Engineer in Machine Learning, you'll be joining a team focused on leveraging ML to enhance the platform's capabilities.

The opportunity is significant - we're operating in a $300B GMV market in China that's grown 100% YoY, and we're bringing this model to the U.S. where retail is a $5T market opportunity. Whatnot has been the fastest growing marketplace in the US over the past two years.

You'll be a foundational member of our Machine Learning and Data Platform team, working on critical initiatives that directly impact our business goals. The role combines software engineering, data science, and machine learning to build scalable solutions. You'll work on everything from feature construction patterns to model monitoring systems, while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

We're looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has a growth mindset, and can work with minimal ego. You'll need strong technical skills in Python, databases, and cloud platforms, plus the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
