Software Development Engineer, WWGST

The Challenge: Whole Foods Market is looking for a Software Development Engineer who is passionate and innovative, with a heart for Nourishing People and the Planet, to join our newly formed Engineering Services team. This team will be tackling some of our most complex and challenging projects and will deliver innovative technical solutions to advance the retail grocery industry.

We are building a new team from the ground up, combining the innovative power of Amazon and Whole Foods Market. As a Software Development Engineer, you will help tackle a diverse landscape of technical challenges in this early-stage initiative. You will play an active role in translating business requirements into concrete systems, prototyping concepts, and working with technology leaders within the team and across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and deploy reliable distributed solutions that operate at Amazon scale for Whole Foods store networks
• Work with core languages and technologies including Java, Python, and AWS services
• Tackle challenging, novel situations daily and redefine an industry while working with different teams across Amazon and Whole Foods Market
• Define and create brand new products and services to radically improve customer experiences
• Translate business objectives into technical solutions, understanding their impact on overall strategy
• Explore unknown territory and invent simple, beautiful solutions to complex business and usability problems
• Collaborate closely with your team to influence outcomes and propose well-informed new directions
• Utilize great interpersonal communication skills to find new and better ways of communicating and sharing your work
