The Wikimedia Foundation is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer for Data Engineering to join their team, reporting to the Director of Fundraising Technology. This role is crucial in building, maintaining, and operating the data infrastructure that supports the Foundation's fundraising program, which funds Wikipedia and its sister projects.
As a Senior SRE Data Engineer, you'll be responsible for managing distributed data systems, implementing data quality monitoring, and collaborating closely with the Fundraising team. You'll work with a tech stack including Trino/Starburst, MariaDB, Dagster, dbt, Superset, and Metabase. The role requires expertise in high availability distributed systems, database administration, and configuration management tools.
Key responsibilities include deploying and maintaining data systems, ensuring data quality, integrating data from various sources, providing support during high-traffic campaigns, and ensuring compliance with regulations like GDPR and PCI DSS. You'll also manage data access control and work on optimizing data input processes.
The ideal candidate should have at least two years of experience in an SRE/Operations/DevOps role, strong skills in Linux/Unix, scripting languages (Python, Go, Bash), and excellent communication abilities. A degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience is preferred.
