Description For Junior Engineer

Wonder is a food-tech startup backed by top-tier venture capitalists and led by experienced entrepreneurs. As a Junior Engineer at Wonder, you will play a vital role in supporting the Design and Procurement teams in the seamless execution of restaurant development projects. You'll be deeply involved in the end-to-end process of design, ensuring that back-of-house operations are equipped with the best resources to deliver exceptional experiences to customers.

In this role, you will:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Culinary, Architecture, and external vendors
  • Maintain high standards of quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness across all restaurant locations
  • Use Bluebeam cloud software to input comments on back-of-house kitchen equipment drawings
  • Manage tasks and track key milestones using Jira
  • Contact equipment vendors to obtain and review quotes for kitchen equipment
  • Conduct quality inspections during restaurant installations (less than 10% of the time)
  • Record and update new equipment standards
  • Work with appliance engineers to vet new equipment
  • Review engineering drawings to ensure compliance with Wonder-specific requirements
  • Compile data from orders to track costs and quantities over time
  • Prepare PowerPoint presentations to suggest cost-saving opportunities and highlight trends

This role offers comprehensive exposure to the restaurant development process and a direct impact on the success of Wonder's establishments. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and possesses a strong desire to grow and develop within a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • Familiarity with Engineering software tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Fusion, etc.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and accuracy

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience with Low Voltage (LV) and electric engineering concepts
  • Experience in equipment procurement and vendor management
  • Experience with reading and communicating construction documentation
