Description For Optical Engineer

Xcimer Energy is at the forefront of clean energy innovation, leveraging decades of research in Inertial Fusion Energy (IFE) combined with revolutionary laser architecture. Our mission is to rapidly deploy fusion power plants to address global decarbonization challenges. We're seeking an Optical Engineer to join our dynamic team in developing state-of-the-art UV laser systems for laser-driven inertial fusion.

The role offers a unique opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology in the fusion energy sector. As an Optical Engineer, you'll be responsible for the design, analysis, and implementation of laser beamlines and diagnostics systems. You'll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of optical physicists, electrical, and mechanical engineers to create active beam control systems and contribute to the future of clean energy.

The ideal candidate should have a B.S. in optical engineering or related field, with at least one year of experience or relevant coursework. Proficiency in optical design software (preferably Zemax) and computational tools like MATLAB or Python is essential. You'll need hands-on experience with optical system integration, precision alignment techniques, and optical metrology.

We offer a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) with company match, equity grants, and generous paid time off. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a well-funded startup backed by leading investors, working alongside industry experts to solve one of the world's most pressing challenges - clean energy production through fusion technology.

The position is based in Denver, with a competitive salary range of $75,000-$100,000, depending on experience and qualifications. Join us in our mission to power a better world through inertial fusion energy!
