Description For Lab Computing Analyst

Zifo, a global R&D solutions provider, is seeking a Lab Computing Analyst for their North Chicago, IL location. This role is part of the Lab Computing department and is a full-time, on-site position. The ideal candidate will provide technical laboratory services, including multivendor instrument support, IT services, and validation/compliance when applicable.

Key responsibilities include managing lab computing aspects, implementing Windows-based security, ensuring adherence to client policies, and acting as a technical support contact. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in computer science or life science (or equivalent experience), with 3+ years of relevant technical experience in Windows technologies, networking, and remote computing.

Responsibilities For Lab Computing Analyst

  • Provide technical support of customer laboratory environments, typically for computers integrated with instrumentation
  • Manage lab computing aspects of installing new, retirement and relocation of equipment
  • Implement Windows based security
  • Ensure adherence to client's corporate policies through periodic reporting and compliance programs
  • Act as the technical support contact for field service engineers and external vendors
  • Provide technical subject matter expertise for new system validation and change management efforts
  • Document procedures, policies, troubleshooting and best practices
  • Create and maintain a physical inventory of lab equipment, PC's, software, and other pertinent information
  • Perform system preventative maintenances based on client's schedule, if applicable

Requirements For Lab Computing Analyst

  • Bachelor of Science in computer science, life science or equivalent industry experience
  • 3+ years of relevant technical experience including Windows technologies, networking, remote computing and backup systems
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex instrument and technology issues
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to identify, track and complete tasks for multiple projects
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety practices
  • Experience with virtual machine support (preferred)
  • Experience with scientific instrumentation (preferred)
