Google Hackathons are pretty cool: https://developers.google.com/events

Local GDGs (Google Developer Groups): https://gdg.community.dev/

    Searching for Hackathons via https://www.meetup.com/

    Game dev hackathons via https://itch.io/jams

Major League Hacking is another one, which I can vouch for as a Taro community member was a part of it and found internships through it. Overall, that person is doing quite well in their career, even in this market. You can check it out here: https://mlh.io/

    Where are you located?

I'd highly recommend in-person hackathons -- way easier to build rapport and get help if you're stuck. Common sources for this are your local university or local dev group.

I personally like Eth Denver. They have $1M worth of prizes. Also, it's an easy way to meet leaders in the crypto space as well.

Showing initiative by contributing an open source tool or using a tool by another company would literally open doors for you.

For those who were laid off, taking a career break, or any another reason why they're not working right now. It's good to be unemployed every once in a while!
