Pros: Flexibility and the work environment are very professional. Everyone is willing to help one another, and there are an abundance of resources when needed from peers or co-workers. It has a large supporting network.
Cons: The pay is not as competitive, and advancement within the company is very minimal. Moreover, there are many layers of redundancy in the company that can be eliminated. Sometimes it feels like too many management personnel are running around asking for the same status. It's like going in circles, asking each other for the same status. Bottom line, too many people asking for status and not enough people working on the actual problem.

Still a good place to work, but not your old IBM

Pros: Flex hours, fairly good work/life balance opportunities, sick days are not taken from your vacation, not too political (at least in my group), decent benefits, and good 401k matching.
Cons: Lowered vacation time for new employees (starts at 3 weeks and reaches 4 weeks max, no matter how long you work for IBM).
No more pension or medical insurance after retirement (but nobody can afford that really anymore).
Some groups can be competitive and political rather than motivational.

Pros: We'll recognize brand, but "Road Maps" are hurting morale. Moving to a 100% SW company will take longer than what VPs anticipated.
Cons: Looking for a new identity.
Difficulty moving around divisions due to "silo" style structures.
Current re-structuring process will make it hard to attract new talent.
