Pros
  • Good holiday entitlement that grows the longer you spend there.
  • Managers who are understanding about commitments outside work, etc., and not too demanding.
  • Very flexible work day; you can come in at 10 or 11.
  • Managers leave you to get on with your work without micromanaging.
  • Some great tech people, who can be very inspiring to work with.
  • Good tech talks (occasionally) and other visiting speakers who are usually interesting.
  • Many opportunities for training, which management is supportive of. Courses are available in both technical (programming languages, etc.) and non-technical disciplines (British Sign Language, presentation skills, etc.).
Cons
  • Lack of benefits.
  • No free food (yes, a major problem!).
  • Not much communication with upper management.
  • More tech talks would be very nice.
