Good place to work; it could be better
- Excellent co-workers, both socially and technically
- Some very interesting work
- Above-average work environment
- Overall direction sometimes drops "out of the sky".
- Technical decisions are swayed by outside groups, which can affect team focus.
- There can be lots of "busy work" that doesn't seem connected with team goals. (Granted, some is unavoidable in a large company, but still...)
Choose good first-line management and let them run.
Business Management 101: Give them the authority to match their responsibility.
