Description For Senior Manager, Security Engineering

Airbnb is seeking a Senior Manager of Security Engineering to join their Security team, a critical function that maintains trust in their platform serving millions of users globally. This role will lead Infrastructure Security and Application Security functions, focusing on full tech stack security across production, corporate, and third-party environments. The ideal candidate will balance business needs with security risk mitigation, avoiding unnecessary friction while maintaining strong security posture.

The position offers significant autonomy to define and establish new capabilities, working cross-functionally with engineering teams, TPM, and business partners. The role requires a practical approach to security, focusing on finding secure solutions rather than simply saying no to business initiatives. The successful candidate will have extensive experience managing teams, including supporting other managers, and deep knowledge of AWS and Kubernetes environments.

This is a US-remote position with occasional office visits or offsites as needed. The compensation package includes a competitive base salary range of $244,000 - $307,000, plus potential bonus, equity, and unique benefits like Employee Travel Credits. The role represents an opportunity to impact security at scale while working with a diverse, globally-recognized platform that has facilitated over 2 billion guest arrivals worldwide.

The ideal candidate will bring 8+ years of people management experience, technical expertise in cloud infrastructure and security, and a demonstrated ability to scale and advance security functions while maintaining a business-friendly approach. This role offers the chance to shape security strategy while working with cutting-edge technologies in a dynamic, fast-growing environment.
