Airbnb is seeking a Senior Security Engineer to join their Threat Detection and Response (TDR) team in EMEA. This role combines technical security expertise with incident response and automation capabilities. As a key member of the growing TDR team, you'll be responsible for detecting, investigating, and responding to security threats across Airbnb's global platform. The position offers an opportunity to define and execute novel approaches to threat detection and incident response, while working with cutting-edge technologies and tools including Python, AWS, and SQL.
The role requires a strong background in security engineering with at least 5 years of experience, including 3+ years specifically in incident response. Responsibilities For Senior Security Engineer, Threat Detection and Response
- Perform investigations of security incidents using digital forensic artifacts, log data analysis
- Develop automation for investigation & response capabilities that scale
- Coordinate and drive resolution on diverse range of incidents as part of an on-call team
- Analyze root causes, trends and systematic issues
- Create and automate threat detection and hunting based on indicators
- Help define and execute strategy for threat detection and incident response
- Collaborate with cross-functional partner teams for efficient, large-scale response
Requirements For Senior Security Engineer, Threat Detection and Response
- 5+ years of hands-on technical experience in security engineering, systems engineering, software engineering, network engineering, or privacy engineering
- 3+ years of experience in incident response including host and cloud forensics, incident management, threat intelligence, threat hunting, and/or security detection
- Bachelor's degree in a related technical field or equivalent practical experience
- Ability to lead people in complex, ambiguous situations through influence and not authority
- Ability to work calmly and collaboratively in critical situations with expediency
- Outstanding organisational, prioritisation, and multitasking skills
- Experience automating security detection and response
