Amazon is seeking an Automation Engineer to join their operations team in Italy. The role focuses on ensuring automated systems operate at maximum efficiency to meet customer delivery commitments. The position involves working with cutting-edge Amazon technologies and solving complex problems that impact productivity.

As an Automation Engineer, you'll be the go-to person for automated systems at your location, managing everything from conveyor belts to sorting systems. You'll take initiative in identifying and implementing solutions when errors occur or when there's room for improvement. Your expertise will be crucial in training Technical Engineers on troubleshooting devices and preventive maintenance controls.

The role combines hands-on technical work with collaborative projects across multiple departments. You'll work with a European network of controls to monitor metrics, provide data visualization for stakeholders, and ensure proper documentation of all systems. The position requires expertise in PLC-based control systems, material handling equipment, and programming standards.

Responsibilities For Automation Engineer

  • Monitor main systems, identifying and resolving problems and critical issues
  • Collaborate with European control network to monitor material handling equipment metrics
  • Provide internal stakeholders with graphical representations of problem-solving data
  • Oversee or actively participate in continuous improvement projects
  • Collaborate with multiple departments to ensure proper system documentation
  • Work with global colleagues to install and commission new equipment
  • Interpret mechanical drawings and electrical systems
  • Ensure programming compliance with IEC 61131-3 standard

Requirements For Automation Engineer

  • High school diploma
  • Extensive experience with PLC-based control systems automation
  • Experience with conveyor belts and sorting systems
  • Experience in material handling and flow visualization
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management tools
  • Experience with Ladder Logic and Siemens, Allen-Brady or Codesys PLC systems
  • Knowledge of EthernetIP, Profinet, Profibus networks
  • Advanced knowledge of English and Italian languages
