Description For Automation Engineer

Join Amazon's largest Fulfillment Center in the Southern Hemisphere and first Amazon Robotics Site in Australia as an Automation Engineer. This role is perfect for professionals passionate about automation and advanced material handling systems. As part of the Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team, you'll work with cutting-edge automated material handling equipment (MHE), focusing on fault-finding, troubleshooting, and improving controls solutions. You'll have the opportunity to mentor team members and drive innovations that directly impact customer deliveries.

The role involves collaborating with a global network of professionals, including IT, EU Controls Engineering, and Operations Engineering teams. You'll be responsible for maintaining system documentation, supporting new equipment installations, and ensuring high equipment availability. The position requires expertise in PLC controlled automation, experience with various conveyor and sortation systems, and strong technical problem-solving skills.

Working at Amazon's RME team means joining a technically skilled group of collaborative professionals guided by experienced leaders. The team is crucial in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment across Amazon's global network. A degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or industrial electronics is preferred but not required. Responsibilities For Automation Engineer

  • Partner with RME team to provide high level of equipment availability
  • Coach and train technicians in control systems fault finding
  • Collaborate with AU/EU Controls network to enhance MHE metrics monitoring
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintain system documentation and backup procedures
  • Support installation and commission of new equipment
  • Support other sites in the AU network
  • Interpret mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Improve strategies for code conforming to IEC 61131-3

Requirements For Automation Engineer

  • Relevant experience with PLC controlled automation
  • Experience in issue diagnosis in continuous process environment
  • Experience supporting conveyors and sortation systems
  • Experience in material handling, flow and capacity visualization
