Description For Business Intelligence Engineer, Books Content Acquisition Analytics

Amazon's Books Content Acquisition team is seeking a Business Intelligence Engineer to develop robust data products for their Books Supply Chain and Operations team. This role combines technical expertise with business insight, focusing on building scalable analytics solutions that drive decision-making across forecasting, buying, inventory management, and returns programs.

The position requires expertise in data analysis, visualization, and ETL processes, with the successful candidate working at the intersection of business intelligence and supply chain operations. You'll partner with various stakeholders to understand business challenges and create analytical solutions using tools like Quicksight, Datanet, and Cradle.

As a BI Engineer, you'll be responsible for developing self-service tools that scale across Amazon's global books content organization. The role demands strong analytical capabilities, deep understanding of business intelligence solutions, and the ability to work effectively with large-scale data sets. You'll be building data pipelines, creating visualizations, and developing metrics that drive business decisions.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable with ambiguity, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in Amazon's fast-paced environment. You'll work within the Books Content Acquisition Analytics (BCAA) team, supporting data needs across the organization while proactively identifying opportunities for analytical innovation.

Responsibilities For Business Intelligence Engineer, Books Content Acquisition Analytics

  • Build scalable solutions / self-serve platforms that will provide data / KPIs to inform business decision making
  • Apply data mining and quantitative analysis to improve content selection
  • Analyze and solve business problems focusing on root causes
  • Own design, development, and maintenance of performance metrics, reports, analyses, dashboards
  • Build data visualizations to tell the story
  • Develop new metrics and studies to quantify customer behavior

Requirements For Business Intelligence Engineer, Books Content Acquisition Analytics

Python
  • 3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL experience
  • Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
  • Experience writing complex SQL queries
  • Experience developing and presenting recommendations of new metrics
