AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a Controls System Development Engineer to join their global team responsible for the design and operation of industry-leading, large-scale data centers. This role combines software development with industrial control systems expertise, focusing on PLC programming and automation for data center infrastructure.

The position requires expertise in low voltage switchgear breaker control and generator automation, with responsibilities including developing automation sequences, programming PLCs, and creating HMI graphics. The role involves working with cutting-edge technology in AWS data centers, implementing and maintaining control systems that ensure reliable operation of critical infrastructure.

As a Controls System Development Engineer, you'll collaborate with multiple teams including construction, commissioning, and MEP engineers. You'll be responsible for creating and maintaining specification documents, managing vendor relationships, and serving as a central point of contact for electrical controls standards.

Responsibilities For Controls System Development Engineer, Data Center Controls SysDev Engineering - Electrical

  • Subject matter expert in low voltage switchgear breaker control and generator automation
  • Develop, program and iterate sequence of operations and HMI graphics
  • Contribute and maintain a library of standard tested automation logic function blocks
  • Lead and facilitate collaboration through multiple teams
  • Create and maintain specification documents for global projects
  • Vendor selection, bid review, RFI support and coordination
  • Interaction with AWS cloud services and other applications
  • Travel globally when needed to manage and/or support project initiatives

  • 1+ years of designing or architecting new and existing systems experience
  • 3+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems
