Description For Controls System Development Engineer, Data Center Controls SysDev Engineering - Electrical

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. This role is part of the team that keeps the cloud running, supporting all AWS data centers and their servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment. The Controls System Development Engineer will be responsible for PLC programming, technical writing, electrical schematic interpretation, and system development for data center controls systems. The role requires expertise in low voltage switchgear breaker control, generator automation, and facility operations. The position involves developing automation sequences, working with multiple teams, and managing global projects. The ideal candidate should have strong technical skills in IEC61131-3 programming, electrical systems, and building management systems, combined with project management and leadership abilities. The role offers opportunities to work on innovative solutions for data center automation and contribute to sophisticated infrastructure projects at a global scale.

The position is part of the Controls System Development team within the larger Data Center Engineering organization at AWS. Responsibilities For Controls System Development Engineer, Data Center Controls SysDev Engineering - Electrical

  • Develop, program and iterate sequence of operations and HMI graphics
  • Contribute and maintain library of standard tested automation logic function blocks
  • Lead and facilitate collaboration through multiple teams
  • Create and maintain specification documents for global projects
  • Vendor selection, bid review, and RFI support
  • Manage and prioritize requests for information on construction builds
  • Interaction with AWS cloud services for data presentation and analysis
  • Travel globally when needed to manage project initiatives

  • 1+ years of designing or architecting new and existing systems experience
  • 3+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems
  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang
  • 3 years of experience in PLC development leveraging IEC-61131 Structured Text and Ladder Logic
