Join Amazon's Data Insights, Metrics & Reporting team (DIMR) as a Data Engineer I, where you'll be at the heart of Amazon's Warehousing & Distribution organization. This role combines technical expertise with business impact, focusing on building BI solutions that process billions of rows daily using AWS technologies. You'll be responsible for creating next-generation tools for intuitive data access and working with cutting-edge data engineering infrastructure.
As part of the central data engineering team, you'll build and maintain data pipelines, work with real-time event streaming services, and create robust data marts supporting diverse use-cases including GenAI applications. This position offers the opportunity to work with a wide range of technologies from AWS services to legacy ETL tools, making it perfect for someone who wants to grow their data engineering skills at scale.
The ideal candidate should have strong SQL and data modeling skills, familiarity with Big Data and MPP systems, and the ability to develop innovative solutions to complex technical problems. You'll work closely with SDE teams and business stakeholders, requiring excellent communication skills to explain complex concepts to non-technical customers.

Responsibilities For Data Engineer I
- Work with SDE teams and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and design data ingress flow
- Lead the design, model, and implementation of large, evolving, structured, semi-structured and unstructured datasets
- Evaluate and implement efficient distributed storage and query techniques
- Extract, transform, and load data from various sources
- Implement robust and maintainable code with clear documentation
- Implement test automation through unit testing and integration testing
- Build and maintain data engineering and reporting infrastructure
- Build data ingestion pipelines from various upstream sources
- Build mechanisms to vend data to internal team members or external sellers
- Build robust data mart to support diverse use-cases powered by GenAI tool
Requirements For Data Engineer I
- 1+ years of data engineering experience
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
- Experience with one or more query language (SQL, PL/SQL, DDL, MDX, HiveQL, SparkSQL, Scala)
- Experience with one or more scripting language (Python, KornShell)
