As a Data Engineer on Amazon's Data and AI team within Customer Engagement Technology, you will play a crucial role in designing and implementing robust data pipelines and infrastructure that power the organization's data-driven decisions and AI capabilities. This position focuses on developing and maintaining enterprise-scale data processing systems that handle high-volume transactions while ensuring data security, privacy compliance, and optimal performance.

You'll work with cutting-edge technologies in cloud computing, big data processing, and machine learning infrastructure, while contributing to robust data governance frameworks. The role involves close collaboration with software development engineers, product managers, and scientists to create impactful data products.

A typical day involves participating in team stand-ups, monitoring data pipelines, developing ETL/ELT processes, implementing data governance controls, and reviewing code. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams, mentor junior engineers, and ensure data security and compliance with regulations.

The Data and AI team is a new function within Customer Engagement Technology, owning the end-to-end process of defining, building, implementing, and monitoring a comprehensive data strategy. The team develops and applies Generative AI, Machine Learning, Ontology, and Natural Language Processing to enhance customer and associate experiences.
