Description For DevOps Engineer, Managed Operations

AWS is launching its first European Sovereign Cloud (ESC), a major advancement in utility computing. This role is part of the AWS Managed Operations team, focusing on building and leading operations for high-availability AWS services like EC2, S3, Dynamo, Lambda, and Bedrock specifically for EU customers. The position involves working with the launch of ESC in 2025, collaborating with global AWS teams, and shaping AWS services evolution. Daily responsibilities include working with technology leaders, improving operations, and ensuring optimal service performance. The role requires participation in on-call rotations and aims to deliver scalable, highly available services for EU customers. As part of AWS Utility Computing (UC), you'll support various AWS services including Compute, Database, Storage, IoT, Platform, and Productivity Apps. The position emphasizes operational excellence, system reliability, and customer satisfaction, making it ideal for experienced professionals passionate about cloud computing and innovation. Responsibilities For DevOps Engineer, Managed Operations

  • Oversee the launch of the European Sovereign Cloud (ESC) in 2025
  • Work with global AWS teams to influence AWS services and technology evolution
  • Enhance day-to-day operations for availability, reliability, latency, performance, and efficiency
  • Participate in on-call rotations for incident resolution
  • Review operational health of services
  • Identify anomalies and create bug reports
  • Provide feedback on change management documents
  • Develop and test operational scripts
  • Share knowledge about European Sovereign Cloud with service teams

Requirements For DevOps Engineer, Managed Operations

  • 5+ years of systems engineering experience with hardware, software, networking, operating systems
  • Proficiency in creating and improving standard operational procedures (SOPs)
  • Proficiency in driving operational best practices

  • Proficiency in troubleshooting system performance and reliability issues
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Legal right to work in Ireland
