Description For FPGA Engineer, AWS Center for Quantum Computing

The Amazon Web Services (AWS) Center for Quantum Computing (CQC) is seeking an FPGA Engineer to join their innovative team working on developing a fault-tolerant quantum computer. This role sits at the intersection of quantum computing and hardware engineering, where you'll be responsible for developing and integrating RTL designs and embedded software for quantum control platforms.

As part of the Control Stack team, you'll work on overcoming novel challenges in experimental quantum computing, such as high-throughput device characterization & calibration and enabling real-time quantum error correction protocols. The position offers a unique opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology at the AWS Center for Quantum Computing, located on the Caltech campus in Pasadena, CA.

The role demands a combination of technical expertise in FPGA development, embedded software, and system architecture. You'll spend most of your time extending the functional capabilities and performance of the existing control platform, translating complex requirements into practical design solutions. Collaboration is key, as you'll work closely with scientists and software engineers to ensure your implementations meet the needs of the quantum computing experiments.

AWS offers a comprehensive compensation package, including competitive base salary ranging from $129,300 to $223,600 depending on location, plus equity and benefits. The company strongly values diversity and inclusion, providing various employee-led affinity groups and learning experiences. Career growth opportunities are abundant, with access to mentorship and knowledge-sharing resources.

This position requires either U.S. citizenship, permanent residency, or appropriate immigration status due to export control regulations. The ideal candidate will bring strong engineering principles, resourcefulness, and excellent communication skills to this cutting-edge role in quantum computing technology.
