Project Kuiper is Amazon's ambitious initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites, aimed at providing high-speed broadband connectivity to underserved communities worldwide. As an FPGA Engineer on the Kuiper Government Solutions team, you'll be at the forefront of groundbreaking satellite communication system development.

The role combines cutting-edge FPGA technology with satellite communications, offering a unique opportunity to define and implement innovative solutions with minimal legacy constraints. You'll work on high-speed communication links using the latest FPGA technologies and tools, collaborating with diverse technical teams across Amazon.

Key responsibilities include developing FPGAs through all phases - from architecture to silicon validation, implementing digital logic functions, and working with RF and Optical Communications teams. You'll be involved in critical decision-making for system optimization, considering factors like cost, size, power, and performance.

The position is part of the Kuiper Solutions Engineering team, a multi-disciplinary group focused on developing scalable solutions for satellite and ground applications, particularly for U.S. and allied government customers. This role requires strong technical expertise in FPGA design, system architecture, and digital communications, combined with the ability to work effectively across teams.

The compensation package is competitive, ranging from $129,800 to $212,800 based on location, plus additional benefits including medical coverage and potential equity. Responsibilities For FPGA Engineer, Kuiper Government Solutions

  • Create and release FPGAs through development phases
  • Collaborate with RF and Optical Communications teams to design and implement modem and digital logic functions
  • Implement digital logic functions in FPGA prototypes
  • Collaborate with systems architects and design teams for system integration
  • Drive trade-off analysis for cost/size/power/performance optimization

Requirements For FPGA Engineer, Kuiper Government Solutions

Python
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline, or 5+ years of FPGA experience
  • 3+ years of experience in FPGA design & implementation
  • 3+ years of experience in design, test, delivery, support of FPGAs shipping to customers
  • 3+ years of experience with modern ASIC/FPGA design and verification tools
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
