IT Application Engineer, World Wide Grocery Store Tech Payments

Amazon's World Wide Grocery Store Tech Payments team is seeking an IT Application Engineer to join their dynamic team focused on Point of Sale (POS) systems for Canadian and UK Whole Foods Market stores. This role combines technical leadership with hands-on development, requiring expertise in distributed systems and large-scale applications.

As an IT Application Engineer, you'll lead the design and implementation of large-scale distributed systems, drive architectural decisions, and ensure scalability and reliability of critical applications. You'll work closely with product managers and stakeholders to translate complex requirements into innovative solutions. The role includes mentoring junior engineers, participating in on-call rotations, and continuously improving system resilience.

The ideal candidate will have 3-6 years of relevant experience with a BA/BS degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. You'll need strong technical skills in distributed systems, excellent problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills.
