Description For Machine Learning Engineer II, AWS Just-Walk-Out Science Team

Amazon's AWS Just Walk Out (JWO) team is revolutionizing retail with checkout-free shopping experiences. As a Machine Learning Engineer II, you'll be part of a team developing cutting-edge computer vision and deep learning solutions for autonomous retail environments. The role involves working with state-of-the-art model architectures, processing massive datasets, and optimizing large-scale distributed training systems.

You'll be responsible for developing novel algorithms and modeling techniques using NVIDIA GPUs, directly impacting customer experiences through Just-Walk-Out innovations. The position requires collaboration with Applied Scientists to integrate advanced model architectures, scale machine learning models, and optimize training workflows.

The team works on designing autonomous AI agents that can make intelligent decisions based on visual inputs, understand customer behavior patterns, and adapt to dynamic retail environments. This includes developing systems for complex scene understanding, object permanence reasoning, and customer intention prediction through visual cues.

Working in an Agile/Scrum environment, you'll contribute to both the technical implementation and strategic direction of JWO at Amazon. The role offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies including multi-modal foundation models, computer vision systems, and large-scale GPU clusters.

This position combines software engineering excellence with machine learning expertise, requiring strong skills in Python, PyTorch, and deep learning frameworks. You'll be part of a team that values innovation, entrepreneurial thinking, and collaborative problem-solving, working on technology that is transforming the retail industry.

The compensation package includes a competitive base salary range of $129,300 to $223,600 depending on location, plus potential equity, sign-on payments, and comprehensive benefits. Join a team that's pushing the boundaries of what's possible in autonomous retail technology while working with some of the most advanced AI systems in the industry.
