Description For Network Development Engineer, Datacentre Fabrics - Product Engineering

AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a Network Development Engineer to join their Network Fabric Engineering (NFE) team. This role is crucial in building, deploying, and scaling Amazon networks that support AWS across multiple global datacenters. The position combines network engineering with Unix systems expertise to deliver sustainable solutions for next-generation IP networks.

The role involves working with cutting-edge network technologies, from Top of Rack to Network Border, ensuring the stability and scalability of AWS's global infrastructure. You'll be part of the Core Networking team, responsible for building and maintaining the network fabric that allows Data Centers to function efficiently and interconnect seamlessly.

As a Network Development Engineer, you'll collaborate with network, systems, and software engineering teams to implement new designs and products. You'll be responsible for critical network support, troubleshooting complex networking issues, and developing automation solutions to scale operations. The position requires participation in a 24x7 on-call rotation and occasional travel to data center sites.

  • Create and implement changes on the network
  • Work with automation teams in defining scaling tools
  • Lead network projects in sustaining engineering, deployment, scaling, and optimization

Requirements For Network Development Engineer, Datacentre Fabrics - Product Engineering

  • 4+ years experience in network focused hands-on technical role
  • 4+ years experience developing engineering mechanisms for IP networks
  • 4+ years experience in technical on-call capacity
  • 1+ years experience in automation via Bash/shell scripting and Perl/Python programming
  • Understanding of TCP/IP networking and routing protocols
  • Experience with router platforms like Cisco, Juniper, Arista
  • Knowledge of network hardware and packet forwarding architectures
