Description For Network Development Engineer II, Core Networking

AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a Network Development Engineer II to join their Core Networking team, specifically the Network Fabric Engineering (NFE) team. This role is crucial in building, deploying, and scaling Amazon networks that support AWS across multiple global datacenters.

The position involves working with network and Unix systems engineering to deliver simple, sustainable, and repeatable solutions. You'll be responsible for driving the stability and sustainability of next-generation IP networks, working on critical infrastructure that keeps the cloud running.

As a Network Development Engineer, you'll:

  • Work in a 24x7 team on-call rotation
  • Implement and manage network changes
  • Collaborate with automation teams on scaling solutions
  • Lead network projects in various areas including deployment, scaling, and optimization
  • Provide critical network support for large-scale networking events
  • Partner with broader Network/Infrastructure teams
  • Maintain networking standards and ensure compliance

The role requires expertise in TCP/IP networking, IP routing, and network security architecture. You'll work with various platforms including Cisco, Juniper, and other major networking vendors.

Requirements For Network Development Engineer II, Core Networking

  • 4+ years experience in a network focused hands-on technical role working with IP routing protocols/technologies
  • 4+ years experience developing engineering, deployment, or operations mechanisms
  • 4+ years experience in a technical on-call capacity
  • 1+ years of experience in automation via Bash/shell scripting and Perl/Python programming
