Network Development Engineer II, Internet Edge Operations

AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a Network Development Engineer II to join their Internet Edge Operations team within the GCNA (Global Connectivity and Network Availability) Organization. This role is crucial in maintaining and evolving AWS's global network infrastructure, which serves as the backbone connecting AWS services worldwide.

The position combines network engineering with Unix systems expertise to deliver sustainable solutions for next-generation IP networks. You'll be part of the team responsible for controlling internet traffic that enables users to access their information and applications globally. The role involves working with complex backbone networks that facilitate efficient traffic flow between data centers and customers.

As a Network Development Engineer II, you'll collaborate with broader Infrastructure teams on configuration standards and tools, while working alongside Systems and Software Engineers to ensure smooth deployment of new designs and products. Key responsibilities include implementing network changes, scaling solutions, and providing critical support for large-scale networking events.

The Internet Edge team handles an impressive scope of work, managing terabits of traffic and representing one of the largest edge surface areas globally. You'll be involved in evolving routing policies, implementing traffic engineering solutions, growing peering footprint, and securing the network from bad actors on the Internet.

The role requires strong expertise in network protocols, Linux/Unix environments, and automation scripting. You'll be expected to participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation and may need to travel to data center/network sites as needed. The position offers competitive compensation ranging from $127,400 to $212,800 based on location, plus additional benefits including equity, sign-on payments, and comprehensive medical coverage.
