Project Kuiper is an ambitious initiative by Amazon to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites aimed at providing high-speed broadband connectivity to underserved communities worldwide. As a Software Development Engineer on the Kuiper Network Services team, you'll be instrumental in building ground-based traffic processing pipelines that connect Kuiper's satellite network to the external world.
In this role, you'll have the unique opportunity to architect and build software from the ground up while helping shape the team's engineering culture. Your responsibilities will include developing code, implementing CI/CD pipelines, creating test automation systems, and building monitoring dashboards. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, design solutions, and operate the infrastructure you build.
The position involves engineering cloud services that are both reliable and available for customer connectivity. You'll be responsible for developing features that enhance service quality and security, while collaborating across teams to build networking functions on AWS cloud infrastructure. The role also includes mentoring junior team members and establishing best practices for software development processes.
A typical day involves designing networking features with stakeholders, implementing and testing solutions in prototype/production environments, and ensuring the highest quality deliverables. You'll be writing code, debugging systems, and working directly with customer issues to provide exceptional service experiences.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a groundbreaking project that combines satellite technology with cloud computing to bring internet connectivity to unserved communities globally. The role requires strong technical expertise in distributed systems and networking, combined with the ability to work in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
