Security Engineer II, AppSec Stores

Amazon Stores is seeking a Security Engineer II to join their AppSec team, focusing on securing one of the world's largest technology deployments. This role combines technical security expertise with collaborative leadership to ensure customer safety across Amazon's diverse technology landscape.

The position involves working with software development teams to implement security measures across Amazon's wide array of technologies - from Amazon.com to machine learning pipelines, digital healthcare, and no-checkout retail systems. Daily responsibilities include code security inspection, framework development, and service design consultation.

The ideal candidate will be a security generalist with deep expertise in specific areas, combining technical skills with strong communication abilities. They must effectively articulate risks to various audiences and guide teams toward secure solutions through influence and collaboration.

Key responsibilities include:

• Creating and maintaining threat models for diverse software projects
• Conducting manual and automated secure code review in Java, Python, and JavaScript
• Developing security automation tools
• Performing adversarial security analysis
• Providing security training and outreach
• Offering security architecture and design guidance
• Solving novel security challenges independently
