Description For Senior Automation Engineer

Amazon's Operations division is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to join their Reliability & Maintenance Engineering (RME) team. This role is crucial in maximizing equipment reliability and operational performance in Amazon's fulfillment centers through proactive controls automation and technical support. The position involves working with state-of-the-art technology including conveyors, sortation systems, scanners, and SCADA devices.

As a Senior Automation Engineer, you'll be responsible for troubleshooting complex control systems, analyzing performance metrics, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. You'll have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers and lead cross-functional teams to optimize material handling equipment (MHE) systems. Responsibilities For Senior Automation Engineer

  • Serve as the site expert for maintaining automation systems critical to operations
  • Collaborate with building Operations, Engineering teams, and Safety to support MHE systems optimization
  • Maintain and troubleshoot material handling control systems including PLC/PC controllers
  • Monitor MHE metrics and address system performance issues
  • Provide second-level escalation support to site technicians and automation engineers
  • Facilitate Failure Analysis and Incident Review processes
  • Perform and analyze building System Assessments
  • Communicate technical issues and project timelines to stakeholders

Requirements For Senior Automation Engineer

Java
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, engineering technology or equivalent, or 2+ years of professional experience
  • 2+ years of PLC programming or automation engineering experience
  • 2+ years of experience with PLC-controlled automation in a continuous process environment
  • 2+ years of experience with robotics work cells and control systems
  • 2+ years of experience with Ladder Logic and structure programming
  • 2+ years of experience with electrical theory and automated equipment
  • Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
