Amazon's Operations division is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to join their Reliability & Maintenance Engineering (RME) team in Dallas, TX. This role is crucial for maximizing equipment reliability and operational performance in Amazon's fulfillment centers through proactive controls automation and technical support. The position involves working with state-of-the-art technology including conveyors, sortation systems, scanners, and SCADA devices.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting complex control systems, analyzing performance metrics, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. They will serve as a technical leader, mentoring junior engineers and leading cross-functional teams to optimize material handling equipment (MHE) systems. Responsibilities For Senior Automation Engineer - Dallas, TX

  • Serve as the site expert for maintaining automation systems critical to operations
  • Collaborate with building Operations, Engineering teams, and other departments for systems optimization
  • Maintain and troubleshoot material handling control systems and industrial networks
  • Monitor MHE metrics and address system performance issues
  • Provide second-level escalation support to site technicians and automation engineers
  • Escalate downtime situations to vendors or headquarters when needed
  • Facilitate Failure Analysis and Incident Review processes
  • Perform and analyze building System Assessments

Requirements For Senior Automation Engineer - Dallas, TX

Linux
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, engineering technology or equivalent, or 5+ years of professional or military experience
  • 2+ years of experience with PLC-controlled automation and issue diagnosis
  • 2+ years of experience with robotics work cells and control systems
  • 2+ years of experience with Ladder Logic and structure programming from Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Codesys PLCs
  • 2+ years of experience with electrical theory, robotics, controls components, and automated equipment
  • Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Must work flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
