Description For Senior Data Engineer, Intelligence Data Service, Project Kuiper

Project Kuiper is Amazon's ambitious low Earth orbit satellite broadband network initiative, designed to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers and communities worldwide. The Kuiper Intelligence Data Services (KIDS) team is at the forefront of building enterprise-grade data platforms that combine data lake and mesh architectures using cutting-edge AWS data services.

As a Senior Data Engineer on the KIDS team, you'll be instrumental in architecting and maintaining the organization's central data platform, DataHive, which serves as the single source of truth across the company. You'll work closely with diverse teams spanning hardware, software, supply chain, manufacturing, launch, facilities, finance, compliance, and HR to implement sophisticated data architectures supporting various analytics use cases.

The role demands expertise in AWS data services and experience with enterprise-scale data architectures. You'll be responsible for designing and implementing data ingestion processes that provide crucial insights into business health, forming the foundation for data-driven decision-making. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with business acumen, thriving in a fast-paced agile environment while maintaining attention to detail.

Working in the KIDS team, you'll contribute to DataHive, a centralized data and analytics infrastructure that enables teams to develop dashboards and insights driving Kuiper's satellite production operations. The platform emphasizes robust data governance with tagging and access controls, enhancing data discoverability and security. You'll help develop self-serve capabilities for both data providers and consumers, including features like data quality monitoring and automated data tagging.

This position requires U.S. citizenship due to export control requirements related to the nature of the work. The role offers competitive compensation ranging from $139,100 to $240,500 per year based on geographic location, plus additional benefits including equity, sign-on payments, and comprehensive medical coverage.
