Senior Data Scientist, Japan Transportation Engineering & Analytics

Amazon Japan is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to lead their Transportation Engineering & Analytics team. This role sits at the intersection of data science, logistics, and e-commerce, focusing on revolutionizing Amazon's transportation and supply chain operations in Japan.

The position involves leading a team of Data Scientists and Data Engineers to develop and implement machine learning and heuristic model solutions that address complex business challenges. Key responsibilities include:

• Leading technical projects and teams (excluding people management)
• Designing and implementing ML/optimization solutions from architectural level
• Establishing engineering standards and operational metrics
• Managing data pipelines and large-scale Data Mart
• Providing business insights through data analysis and visualization

The team's mission centers around three main areas:

1. Managing and maintaining comprehensive transportation data infrastructure
2. Developing machine learning and optimization algorithm solutions
