Amazon Japan is seeking a Senior Engineer for their Japan Operations Engineering team (JCFS) to lead the design and implementation of material handling equipment in fulfillment centers. This role is crucial in Amazon's mission to be Earth's most customer-centric company.
The position involves working with both existing and new fulfillment centers, focusing on developing material handling technology that enables Amazon's quick delivery capabilities. The role requires collaboration with global engineering teams to implement cutting-edge processes in Japan and work with domestic and international partners to enhance inbound/outbound equipment efficiency.
As a Senior Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing and implementing high-efficiency material handling equipment to meet Japan operations' medium and annual capacity plans. You'll work on multiple capacity increase projects, demonstrating leadership in cross-functional communication and project management.
The ideal candidate should possess exceptional engineering skills, demonstrate leadership in designing high-performance equipment with team members, and be a self-starter. Strong technical problem-solving abilities, excellent project management skills, and experience with large-scale global projects are essential. The role requires effective communication with various internal teams across different levels and external partners.
The position is based in Tokyo and involves working with fulfillment center retrofitting projects. These projects typically span 10 months to 2 years, with early morning or night shift work possibilities. Responsibilities For Senior Engineer, Japan Operations Engineering, JCFS
- Lead and collaborate with team members to increase inbound/outbound capacity
- Design, develop and implement material handling equipment for inventory storage facilities
- Provide technical leadership in large-scale engineering projects
- Lead the design of optimal inbound/outbound methods considering site layout, equipment specs, and process design
- Communicate and negotiate with internal teams and external vendors
- Work with global engineering teams to implement latest technologies in Japan
Requirements For Senior Engineer, Japan Operations Engineering, JCFS
- Experience in logistics (material handling, storage) or manufacturing equipment design and implementation
- 3+ years of experience leading engineering teams
- Experience with CAD software design
- Experience in project management and communication with international teams and vendors
- Ability to analyze data and create technical reports using Microsoft Office
- Communication skills in both Japanese and English (conversational level, proposal comprehension)
