Description For Senior SDE, Kuiper Telemetry and Command

Project Kuiper is Amazon's ambitious initiative to revolutionize global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). As a Senior SDE on the Telemetry and Command team, you'll play a crucial role in developing foundational services that enable the operation and management of this satellite constellation. The systems you'll build are mission-critical, requiring exceptional reliability and performance.

You'll be responsible for developing software systems that handle essential functions including Telemetry, Contact Orchestration, Commanding, Monitoring, and File Transfer. These services form the backbone of Project Kuiper's operations, supporting multiple teams and ensuring the successful functioning of the entire satellite network.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of space technology and software engineering, directly contributing to Amazon's mission of bringing fast, affordable broadband to underserved communities worldwide. You'll collaborate with talented engineers, lead technical initiatives, and utilize cutting-edge AWS technologies to build highly available services.

The position requires strong leadership skills as you'll be mentoring team members and helping to establish robust software engineering practices. Your work will directly impact the project's success in delivering internet connectivity to consumers, businesses, and government agencies in places without reliable access.

The compensation is competitive, ranging from $151,300 to $261,500 per year, depending on location and experience, plus additional benefits and potential equity. This is a unique chance to be part of a transformative project that combines advanced space technology with Amazon's proven track record in building scalable services.
