Description For Server Engineer | Data Center Operations

AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of AWS's global infrastructure. As a Server Engineer in the Data Center Operations team, you will be part of the team that keeps the cloud running by maintaining the world's largest computing infrastructure.

The role involves hands-on management of hardware lifecycle in our IT infrastructure, including installing and maintaining server racks, troubleshooting hardware issues, and responding to operational emergencies. You'll work in a dynamic environment where you'll handle both scheduled maintenance and emergency responses, ensuring the continuous operation of AWS data centers.

Your responsibilities will include hardware troubleshooting, technical issue resolution, and participation in change management activities. You'll work on a rotating shift schedule (4 days on, 3 days off) with shifts ranging from 8:00-18:00, 12:00-22:00, or 21:45-08:15.

The ideal candidate will have experience with data center operations, strong knowledge of Linux/Windows systems, and basic networking skills. You'll be part of a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, working together to maintain AWS's high standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for customers.

This role offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology in one of the world's largest tech companies, with chances to contribute to process improvements and technical documentation. You'll be part of a team that values bold ideas and empowers you to own projects through to completion.
