Description For Software Dev Engineer II, Last Mile Planning, Amazon

Amazon's Last Mile organization is seeking a Software Development Engineer II to join their Emerging Markets Outbound Tech team. This role focuses on developing systems that plan and optimize package delivery across multiple channels including bikes, vans, and store pickups.

The position involves working on critical systems that make decisions on how each package in Amazon's network is delivered, while considering various constraints like traffic limitations, size restrictions, and package grouping for efficiency. The team operates in the ECCF region, including India and Middle East.

As an SDE II, you'll collaborate with other engineers, research scientists, senior engineers, and product managers to develop scalable software solutions. Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and implementing package planning systems
  • Mentoring junior engineers and interns
  • Improving system performance, maintainability, and availability
  • Participating in on-call rotations
  • Responding to high-severity events
  • Working with Science, Tech SMEs, and Program/Product managers
