Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Software Development Engineer for their Amazon Dedicated Cloud Engineering team. This role is part of the Cutlass initiative, which develops and operates services that builders across Amazon use to improve their operational experience. The position focuses on building automated platforms and solutions to streamline AWS build and deployment processes in dedicated regions.
The ideal candidate will join a team dedicated to fully automating AWS deployments, reducing deployment time, and enabling engineers to focus on building new services. You'll work on systems that enable ticket notifications from airgapped regions and build platforms that optimize data placement, ultimately reducing operational inconsistency across regions.
As an SDE II, you'll own feature development end-to-end, from design through implementation, deployment, and operations. You'll collaborate with senior and principal engineers to ensure designs meet customer needs. The role includes oncall responsibilities (one week per quarter) as the first line of defense against system issues.
The position requires an active TS/SCI security clearance and involves working with highly secure systems. You'll be part of AWS's Utility Computing organization, supporting critical services like S3, EC2, and other core AWS offerings. The team values work-life balance, offering flexible schedules and a supportive environment for professional growth.
AWS embraces diversity through employee-led affinity groups, ongoing learning experiences, and a culture of inclusion aligned with Amazon's 14 Leadership Principles. The team provides strong mentorship opportunities and supports knowledge sharing among members with various experience levels and tenures.
This role offers the opportunity to make significant impacts on AWS's infrastructure while working with cutting-edge cloud technologies in a secure environment. The position combines technical challenges with the chance to influence the direction of technology that affects millions of customers worldwide.
