Description For Software Development Engineer, Amazon Robotics Autonomous Mobility

The Amazon Robotics Autonomous Mobility software team is at the forefront of warehouse automation, developing software for Proteus - Amazon's first fully autonomous warehouse robot. As part of the Platform, Data and Tools team, you'll work on cutting-edge robotics software, focusing on mapping, perception, motion planning, and control software. The role combines embedded systems development with machine learning, requiring expertise in optimizing algorithms, hardware integration, and platform development.

The team consists of collaborative Applied Scientists and Software Engineers with diverse expertise in Computer Vision, SLAM, motion planning, and controls. You'll be working with state-of-the-art sensor technologies and algorithms to enable safe and efficient operation of autonomous mobile robots throughout Amazon's fulfillment network.

This is an opportunity to make a significant impact on Amazon's robotics infrastructure while working with cutting-edge technologies like NVIDIA JetPack SDK, ROS, and various ML frameworks. The role offers a blend of technical challenges, from low-level system optimization to high-level architecture design, all while contributing to one of the world's most advanced robotics programs.

Responsibilities For Software Development Engineer, Amazon Robotics Autonomous Mobility

  • Optimize runtime performance of core algorithms using hardware acceleration
  • Integrate new sensors and hardware components into the software stack
  • Develop and customize Nvidia Jetpack based platform and OS
  • Build data pipelines and tools for ML-development
  • Develop software for remote diagnostics, recovery and control of autonomous robots
  • Build visualization tools for analyzing robot behavior
  • Design software interfaces for hardware testing and manufacturing processes

Requirements For Software Development Engineer, Amazon Robotics Autonomous Mobility

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language
  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture experience
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
  • Experience with full software development life cycle
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
