AWS Edge Connectivity is a critical service enabling US Intelligence and Department of Defense customers to securely connect to AWS Cloud. This role focuses on building and maintaining secure network pathways for customers to access Amazon's Dedicated Cloud partitions. As a Software Development Engineer, you'll be responsible for architecting and implementing sophisticated security protocols across Wide Area Networks (WANs), ensuring seamless and secure access to dedicated cloud environments. You'll work with cutting-edge technology to develop control and dataplane systems that protect critical customer connections flowing through Amazon's global network of datacenters.
The position is part of the AWS Utility Computing (UC) organization, which is responsible for foundational services like Amazon S3 and EC2, as well as continuous innovation in cloud computing. You'll collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to design and implement cloud-based services for managing encrypted network connections, while building distributed systems that are scalable, fault-tolerant, and cost-effective.
The role requires strong technical expertise in network encryption and software development, with opportunities to influence product direction through data-backed insights. You'll be part of an Agile development team, participating in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and maintaining service availability through an on-call rotation (approximately four times per year).
This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about cloud security and infrastructure, offering the chance to work on mission-critical systems while maintaining the highest security standards. The position requires US citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph, reflecting the sensitive nature of the work.
