Description For Software Development Engineer II, Amazon Fulfillment Technologies - External Fulfillment

Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) is seeking a Software Development Engineer II to join their External Fulfillment team. AFT owns all software and infrastructure powering Amazon's world-class fulfillment centers, including fundamental data and services driving catalog and inventory systems. The team builds and operates software, hardware, and processes that run the global network of fulfillment centers, handling tens of millions of catalog items, hundreds of millions of inventory items, and billions of yearly transactions.

The role involves building innovative solutions that scale Amazon's business and lead the industry through innovation. You'll work with cutting-edge technologies in big data, optimization techniques, machine learning, real-time analytics, and high-volume, low-latency services. The position requires building new software from scratch, creating pragmatic solutions for complex business problems, and working closely with operations staff to optimize physical processes.

As an SDE II, you'll be part of a team that's constantly working to decrease delivery times and improve customer experience. You'll participate in the full software development lifecycle, from design to deployment, focusing on building scalable and robust solutions that directly impact Amazon's customers from product selection to delivery.

  • Experience in professional software development (non-internship)
  • Experience designing or architecting new and existing systems
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent (preferred)
