Amazon's Work Authorization team is building a groundbreaking system to streamline employee work authorization processes across 60+ countries. As a Software Development Engineer III in the Personal Information Domain (PID) Platform and Identity Management Services (IDMS) team, you'll lead the development of full-stack enterprise solutions that impact millions of Amazonians globally.

The role focuses on building and maintaining critical services for employee onboarding and identity management, from pre-boarding to alumni status. You'll own highly impactful services responsible for design, build, and maintenance of data platform and identity services, including duplicate detection, login and identity creation, and profile management automation.

This is a technical leadership position where you'll have direct influence on architecture and design decisions while writing critical-path code. You'll work in an agile environment, collaborating with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to deliver solutions that optimize business processes without compromising compliance.

The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with leadership skills, able to mentor team members while driving technical excellence. You'll be empowered to own solutions end-to-end through full stack development, making key decisions that impact Amazon's global workforce management systems.

  • Design and implement highly scalable solutions for work authorization determination process
  • Lead and influence architecture and design decisions
  • Write critical-path code
  • Contribute to technical and business strategy
  • Own full-stack enterprise solutions using cloud technologies
  • Build and maintain customer-facing experiences and back-end services
  • Own and enhance duplicate detection, login and identity creation, profile management services

Requirements For Software Development Engineer III, Employee Onboarding and Administration, Personal Information Domain/Identity Domain

Java
  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent (preferred)
  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle experience (preferred)
