Description For Software Development Engineer, Kuiper

Project Kuiper is Amazon's low Earth orbit satellite broadband network focused on delivering fast, reliable internet globally. As a Software Development Engineer in the Manufacturing Software Systems (MSS) team, you'll tackle technical challenges related to manufacturing satellites, ground equipment, and ASICs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop manufacturing software for assembly, calibration, and testing of satellite and ground systems
  • Build end-to-end system capabilities for manufacturing orchestration across factory production lines
  • Create secure manufacturing software protecting Kuiper IP and assets
  • Perform high-throughput ASIC/chip level provisioning and testing
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, product, and security engineering teams

You'll work with multiple technical domains including software, hardware, networks, RF, embedded, real-time, distributed, and industrial automation systems. The role offers opportunities to:

  • Translate business requirements into concrete deliverables
  • Build prototypes and proofs of concept
  • Design secure manufacturing systems
  • Work with cross-disciplinary teams
  • Make a positive impact on global connectivity

The position requires US citizenship due to export control requirements. You'll be part of the Kuiper Manufacturing Software team responsible for the complete software lifecycle used in manufacturing the satellite fleet, ground equipment, and ASICs.
