Description For Software Development Engineer, Project Kuiper

Project Kuiper is Amazon's ambitious initiative to revolutionize global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). This role is part of the eCommerce team, focusing on building a next-generation platform that's highly scalable, fully automated, and always available. As a Software Development Engineer, you'll be instrumental in developing software applications and services for this advanced global communications service.

The position involves working with the Customer eCommerce Services team, which is responsible for the complete customer lifecycle management. This includes critical systems for identity and account management, subscriber services, billing and payments, and customer analytics. You'll be building solutions that directly impact millions of customers worldwide, particularly in underserved communities.

The ideal candidate is highly analytical, data-driven, and technically fearless - someone who pushes boundaries while remaining grounded in practical solutions. You'll need to be team-oriented, with the ability to mentor junior engineers while collaborating across multiple disciplines including Software, Product, User Experience, and QA.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work on a project with global impact, combining cutting-edge satellite technology with customer-facing services. You'll be responsible for building and maintaining systems that meet high standards for operational excellence, as the team owns and operates the systems they build. The position offers competitive compensation ranging from $129,300 to $223,600 based on location, plus equity and comprehensive benefits.

Due to export control regulations, candidates must be U.S. citizens, nationals, permanent residents, or legally admitted refugees/asylees. The role requires strong technical expertise combined with the ability to think strategically about long-term solutions while maintaining high standards for operational excellence.
