Description For Software Development Engineer, Project Kuiper

Project Kuiper is an ambitious initiative by Amazon to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). The mission is to deliver fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities worldwide.

As a Software Development Engineer on the Project Kuiper team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and operating globally available distributed systems for managing and monitoring Kuiper's terrestrial devices. You'll work with cutting-edge AWS technologies and follow industry-best software engineering practices.

The role involves:

  • Contributing to product strategy and UI presentation
  • Designing and implementing globally available distributed cloud architectures
  • Collaborating with device software, satellite, networking, and security engineering teams
  • Developing UI features from ideation through implementation
  • Ensuring compliance with Amazon's accessibility standards
  • Working on customer engagement systems including identity management, subscriber services, billing, and analytics

The team owns the frontend architecture and solutions for managing the complete customer lifecycle for telecom services, including account management, user provisioning, billing and payments, customer support tools, and analytics.

This is a unique opportunity to work on advanced global telecom services while building systems that will help bridge the digital divide. The role requires expertise in distributed systems, cloud architecture, and frontend development, with a focus on creating scalable, reliable solutions for a worldwide customer base.
