Description For Software Development Engineer, Simulation Foundations

Project Kuiper is Amazon's ambitious initiative to revolutionize global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). This role is for a Software Development Engineer who will be instrumental in building the simulation foundations for this groundbreaking project. You'll be responsible for designing and implementing distributed systems that enable Kuiper to operate within realistic virtual environments at scale.

The position offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge AWS technologies and build critical infrastructure that will help bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities worldwide. You'll be developing cloud services and APIs that facilitate the simulation of software on various Kuiper devices, including satellites, ground gateways, and customer terminals.

As a Software Engineer in this role, you'll be working on building low-latency, highly scalable architecture that is essential for delivering high-quality internet service to customers. You'll be part of a team that's focused on cloud systems and APIs for software simulation, ensuring the highest quality of software before it's deployed onto hardware.

The role offers competitive compensation ranging from $129,300 to $223,600 based on location, plus additional benefits including equity and sign-on payments. You'll be working with a team that's pushing the boundaries of space technology while making a real impact on global connectivity.

This position requires strong technical expertise in distributed systems, cloud technologies, and software development, with opportunities to mentor junior engineers and shape the future of space-based internet infrastructure. The work directly contributes to Amazon's mission of bringing reliable connectivity to communities around the world through innovative space technology.
