Amazon Lab126, an innovative R&D subsidiary of Amazon.com, is seeking a Senior System Development Engineer specializing in Multimedia for Amazon Devices. This role is part of the team that has created groundbreaking products like Kindle, Fire tablets, Fire TV, and Amazon Echo.

The position offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge devices for media consumption, both mobile and home-based. As a key member of the team managing FireOS/Android and Linux/GStreamer based Multimedia/Streaming Framework Development, you'll be responsible for implementing new features and enhancements within the Application/Middleware framework of different Media Player Engines.

The role involves working with various product teams including Kindle Fire Tablets, Amazon FireTV, Amazon Echo, Amazon Music/Video, Alexa, and Smart Home devices. You'll be using a combination of open source and proprietary technologies to build and enhance media technologies, ensuring quality end-to-end (E2E).

  • Design and development for multimedia initiatives and feature development
  • Investigate, prototype and deliver new and innovative system solutions
  • Implementation and customization of audio/video components within FireOS
  • Work with internal and external partners to deliver best in class devices
  • Research new technologies and develop new tools
  • Help define processes to build the media stack of next generation devices
